Developing a Brand
I am currently in the process of starting my own voice-over business. I am still in the development stage and the process has been really slow. Since the pandemic turned my (everyone's) life upside down I had to slow down my efforts a bit. It takes time to develop a webpage and branding, plus having them be consistent. Especially, when I have so many ideas to use. I will be going through my ideas for my brand.
I currently do not have a logo, but I have been thinking about different ideas. I was thinking that my logo could be a microphone (a little cliche), or just my name with a nice tag line. When I do have my logo I don't think my tagline would be a part of my logo. It might just be on the side or on the cards. I essentially would be the face of my own brand, or rather my voice would be "face" but you can't put your face on a card. Plus, with a voice-over business, your looks would give people an idea of what you sound like and it can be wrong. Therefore, I would probably use a microphone instead, with a tagline. I'm thinking my tagline could along the lines of " The voice they want to hear.".
If I used the tag line " The voice they want to hear". I would want it to tell my customers that their end result would be exactly what they wanted to hear. I am working on having my website be nice neutral colors. I like the colors green, brown and beige. Calming neutral colors that are pleasing to the eye and nothing too off-putting. I would have those colors also be on my business cards, plus I would either make the banners or have them created. The banners would be for my social media pages so it is consistent all throughout my online presence. I am not sure which font I would use, but I do not want anything too childish or hard to read. I would want something easy to see and read. My website would naturally have my contact information on it, plus always to contact via social media channels.I want all my branding to be the same so that when I get referred by a customer, the new customer will know who I am and be sure that I am the correct person. At first, I will mostly be going to production companies and sending my website information. The website will have sound bytes of my voice doing different types of readings from narrative, informative, to commercial.
Overall, I want my brand to be noticeable, sophisticated but fun at the same time. As I stated earlier I think having cool neutral colors will help. Plus having all the same themes across my social media platforms will be a bonus to my business as well.
I haven't posted pictures the last few posts. So, I included a picture of Lenny Kravtiz that I took in Oakland at a concert. The other image is of the color palette I have in mind.
