Week 3 Part A: Aesthetics, Design, and Branding

Branding will always be important. It is even a part of our slang. People will say "Oh, that is so on-brand for them."  Meaning, that is exactly what we expect that person to do.

Overall Toyota has a great website, there are a few problems that a customer may have an issue with when looking at the website. When I first went to the website, it asked me if it could track my location. I hate that right away, it matters not where my location is if I just want to look at the website.  There is no search box at the top of the screen, if I want to look for something I have to scroll all over the website to find what I am looking for and see all of their cars even when I don't want to see that information. The white background is clean, but at times it makes the screen hard to look at overall.

The website is very professional, it is a large company and we would expect top tier websites from them at all times. Everything is clean and for the most part easy to find. The images are clear and a person visiting the website will be able to tell what the company sells right away.

The website is great but there is no search button. I would have to go through the entire website to find what I need when it would be much simpler to just search for it in a search box.

I would say this website is the work of an amateur. It gets the idea across but some things can be done differently.  When I arrive at their home page it looks like the children are for sale.  They aren't spotlighting the drink, there are no children enjoying the beverage. Their social media information is listed, but it looks choppy and resized incorrectly and they are just pictures. I would not know that this is their social media page without clicking on the weird misshapen images.  They use the same wording which makes the page boring to read.

This website comes off as very unprofessional, the information and images are not balanced. The drink itself is not spotlighted, I don't see children enjoying the beverage. Plus, when I do finally find the page with the drink it doesn't look good or fresh.

I would spotlight the drink, I might add ice or say the options that a customer may have right on the front page instead of someone looking around their site for it.  I would pick different colors and realign the information on the site.

This website is very easy to look at and the colors are cool and calming. I like that they have the prices of their services right where you can find them under the services web page. It is also nice that they have a bio of each stylist in their salon. It is very easy to find their social media pages, plus they have a link that goes straight to their yelp reviews.  It is easy to navigate and find all the information needed to make an appointment in confidence.

Their website looks very nice, but I would not say it is professional. I think they may have used something like Squarespace. This is great because it is a straight-to-the-point website.  It isn't too crowded or overwhelming or underwelming.  I think most professional websites look. a little bit more modern.

The impact that it gives is small business. It says enough that they care about their online business plus want their consumers to come to visit their salon. I think more people are likely to go to an establishment if they have an online presence. I would definitely go to this business.  I have nothing to compare it to as far as branding, but it gives off the hometown vibe to it.

The NPS has really captured the spirit of the National Parks Department The website says fun and educational. They have a search box right at the top of the page so I don't have to scroll I can search for exactly what I want (I love that). I can find a part right on the home screen, they also spotlight what is happening for the month.

The website is professional the colors are calming.  It is easy to read and look at without feeling overwhelming or boring. The menu button is easy to find and gives straight-to-the-point options without feeling like it is too much for the eyes.

the design and branding scream the US government. If I saw it without labeling I would think this is done by the government, because their websites have the basic type of vibe. government websites don't tend to have a lot of flash nor are they too boring.

I learned that with a little help or research a business can have a website that will bring in customers. Having a bad website will drive customers away. I have come across some websites on this list that was given that are so hard to read I couldn't even get past three scrolls.  Branding is important to give the type of feeling that you want your customer to have when looking at your site.
